Baidu, China’s largest search engine company, plans to launch a ChatGPT-style AI chatbot application in March this year.
Initially, it will be embedded in its main search services.
The tool will be built on Baidu’s Ernie system and will allow users to get conversation-style search results.
Baidu’s entry into the AI chatbot market is part of a larger trend in China where several startups are exploring generative AI. Baidu shares rose 5.8% following the announcement and the company hopes to compete with tech giants investing in real-world AI applications.
