How to write better? I used Copythat and AI to improve my writing in 11 days*

I’m a huge Ben Franklin fan.

(Hell, I'm actually fanboying so much, Benji has became official visual element of my company brainylab)

The reason for this affection is because he was – among so many other things – an amazing writer.

I swear, I was never confident about my writing.

But last year something changed, and today I am way more confident about my writing.

I still struggle sometimes, I wont lie, but writing for the last couple of month has been so much easier and fun.

And not just writing!

I think this tiny modification I made, improved my thinking and creativity process.

There are only two things I changed last year that helped me achieve better preparation and writing:

How I upgraded my AI writing and preparation?

Ok, this was no quick and easy task for me, but it will help you in minutes.

I’ve tested, tried, adopted, abandoned, got frustrated over and fell in love with ton of AI writing tools and frameworks over the past two and a half years.

One of the results was a ton of tests and iterations on various projects I did.

And with lots of tests and iterations, comes a lot of realisations and learnings.

I packaged all of them in actionable blog posts – from How to tutorials to product reviews – so you can use this learning right away.

Here you can find some resources that will help you create better ideas for writing, and first drafts of the content structure.

But I cant stress this enough – AI tools are great for brainstorming, iterating, writing first drafts, reviews, getting you forward when stuck … and suer, much much more.

But writing should be done by you.

This is not a recommendation (and product) for someone who’s looking to write with AI.

Point of writing is it demands clarity.

So you must first want to write, to someday write better.

If you want to create AI agents to write for you, i have a ton of content and tools as well, but this one is not that.

Sorry, I got carried away.

This are the resources that will help you get started.

And now for the writing part.

Take this writing course, thank me later.

OK, now, you have successfully built couple of gpt and gpt projects to find awesome idea you want to write about.

And you need to start writing.

But you’re stuck.

So, I’ve been following this two guys named Sam Parr and Shaan Puri for years now.

If you have no idea about who I’m talking about, see MFM pod (My First Million).

They host a business podcast where they talk ideas, host crazy awesome guests, break down interesting cases and – most important – get you hyped about building business and thinking big ideas.

Let that be enough of an intro, and lets focus on writing.

You see, I’ve been writing for over a decade.

From first short stories attempts in high school to working as music journalist for couple of years.

And I’ve always been surrounded with people who are amazing at writing.

I would always envy them because they have come up with such interesting narratives and view points, but I didn’t.

Now I know this was because of two reasons, first being passionate about something, and second, truly believing in your writing.

And I think I haven’t truly believed in mine for a long time.

The only reason I knew and bought the course was because of mfm podcast and the way Sam and Shaan communicate.

The way they talk on the pod and the way they write on their websites or social media.

And because this type of writing felt natural.

Easy.

True.

Write like you talk. Something I never knew how to do.

And then one episode Sam was talking about his new product.

Its called Copythat and it’s a course that shows you great copywriting and makes you rewrite it.

Ten days, ten great examples.

Each day, you get a proven sales letter, an explanation of why it works, and spend 25–45 minutes rewriting it by hand to learn the techniques.

It’s a simple, hands-on way to improve your writing skills.

Pair this with AI tools for brainstorming, and you’ll have a powerful system.

AI helps with ideas and drafts, while your writing becomes sharper and more effective.

It’s a straightforward way to write better and more confidently.

I bought the course, took a notebook my wife gave me as a gift, and started writing.

For every letter I outlined the the A-I-D-A structure and finished with one key takeaway from each letter.

This is what I did for each day:

And this is how the notebooks looked after I finished.

And after the complete 10 days, this were my key takeaways:

*I’m an affiliate of Copythat writing course. This means, since I bought the course, Sam is offering to split the future sales with us if I invite you. And so I did. Because I would never recommend something without fully believing in it myself.

And actually, since this is my first ever affiliate post, I was thinking …

By buying this course you directly support three people:

  • me, a small creator recommending you something that helped me as well,
  • Sam Parr, the creator of this course, and a savvy writer with simple and effective method to improve your writing, and finally,
  • and most importantly, yourself. Or better, your future self, since this approach will help you write better. For sure.

But only if you’re serious in putting in the work.

Oh, and one final thing.

The process: How to use AI and Copythat to write better in 11 days.

  1. Deciding on topic / idea
    – i use custom GPT to brainstorm and find intersting tools, ideas, frameworks
    – i also have couple of automated Tasks done to help me generate information and ideas
  2. Outline the content structure it with custom GPT – I built myself a custom GPT to help me do this
    – this can help you get started on Custom GPTs
    – here you can find prompts to get you started
  3. Iterate the idea with yet another GPT to find flaws and different perspectives
  4. Read a letter or two from from Copythat to get in the mood
  5. write
  6. sleep on it (not always)
  7. read, edit
  8. publish

And thats it.

I hope it helps and you get some value from this.

Take care.
