So, you know how after the Super Bowl, the winning team’s players say they’re going to Disney World? But how did it come to this?
If you an #NFL fan then I’m sure you know what I’m talking about.
Basically, the most valuable player of the game gets to visit Disney World with a teammate.
But why does this even happen?
Well, it all started just couple of months after I was born, which is no surprise 🙂
Legend has it that in 1987 Disney CEO Michael Eisner’s wife, Jane, got the idea while dining with two flying heroes, Dick Rutan, and Jeana Yeager. They had just flown around the world without stopping or refueling.
When asked what their next big adventure was, they answered, “We’re going to Disneyland.”
And so, a marketing masterpiece was born!
So, in a meeting between Walt Disney and NFL organizers, they came up with the idea of having the Super Bowl MVP say the iconic phrase. And players like Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and Eli Manning have all followed in Phil Simms’ footsteps and said those famous words.
And let’s be real, who wouldn’t want to go to Disney World after winning the Super Bowl?
The MVP gets paid between 30 and 50 thousand dollars just for saying the phrase. And gets a free trip for him and his family to go to Disney World, of course.
Shaan & Sam did a great breakdown of the story if you wanna hear more about it.
