Last year, when I was writing 2023 in review, I again started to complicate.
Felt obliged to write extensive explanations for and of things, so of course I got stuck.
And was to afraid and lazy to get back to it.
So I didnt, and I also wont make the same mistake again.
This is my 2024 in review.
Third in a row.
As “always” I’ll stick to the same structure:
- Health
- Love & Relationships
- Business
- Fun & Play
Health
This is something I’m not so proud of this year.
Started great, was running a lot till October, then got a cold and just didn’t get back to it till late november.
I did still ran more than in 23, so at least that is good, but still health and sports is something I do have to work more in 25.
I did 51 runs and run 534 kilometers which is 15% more than in 23.
One thing I want to add to my schedule in 2 is some sort of martial arts sports to get more flexible.
Love & Relationshiops
There are two sides to this medal.
On first there are Dora, Ina and Gin, my family. And I think we had a good year.
We traveled to Malaysia and Thailand in January, and to Santa Clause Village in Finland with a short detour to Sweden in December.
We also renovated our mini vacation place in Fažana, and all in all spet a lot of time together.
I still quite regularly have total disconnection from work and social media from 4 to 7pm everyday to have family time and dinner together.
We also try to play board games or build Lego at least once a week. We built seven Lego sets and played five different board games this year.
But the second side of the medal are friends.
We spend less and less time together each year.
But we still – for over 10 years now – throw a Christmas dinner.
And we managed to organise a summer weekend getaway this year.
I also visited Inmusic festival and it was a bit meeh, but I did have fun and run into some old friends and acquaintances.
Business
It was intense year.
But also a very rewarding one.
I built a completely new company.
Me and my friend Marko decided its in our and companies best interest to split, and each focus on our own interests and expertise.
And since i was already thinking about rebranding Escapebox, i decided to launch a new brand – brainylab, and we’re a gamification AI studio based in beautiful city Ljubljana.
New brand, new office, updated products & sales funnel, changes in team structure, … a lot was done, a shit load of work still ahead.
But it was fun year.
Focus is on riding this wave of enthusiasm, building connections and improving our processes.
Fun & play
I traveled a bit with my family.
I renovated part of the house that was a storage room for years and was in desperate need of a new roof, flooring and wall improvements.
What seemed like a weekend project turned into a month of heavy work but now its donw and I have new home office and Ina and I have new workout room.
I am proud on that if I’m honest.
It also was a fun little bonding project with my daughter.
Wife’s family owns a small shed in the sea side.
It was built by my wife’s father and grandfather, but it has been untouched for almost 40 years, and in desperate need for a little update and refreshment.
So that’s what we did, and it also turned out great.
Also this year me and Dora organised a FWR – Friends Weekend Retreat.
I’ve read less books and listened to fewer new albums than in 2023, but still managed to read 11 books and listened to 11 new albums as well.
By far the favorite book of the year was a travel novel from Appalachian Trail by Slovenian writer Jakob J. Kenda.
Best album I’ve listened to in 24 was Fontaines D.C. album Romance.
Thats it for this years recap … and its january 1st of 2025.
So have a great new year!
