I’ve been looking at Microsoft’s recent study about AI in business.
They worked with IDC to understand how companies are using AI.
And the are pretty interesting.
Businesses get $3.70 back for every $1 they invest in generative AI.
That’s a solid return on investment.
Over 85% of Fortune 500 companies are already using Microsoft’s AI solutions.
I noticed they group the business outcomes into four main areas:
- Making work better for employees
They’re using AI to handle boring tasks. This lets people focus on more creative work. - Improving customer experience
AI helps create personalized experiences. It also makes things faster for both customers and employees. - Changing how business works
Companies are using AI to remake everything from marketing to supply chains. Some are finding completely new business opportunities. - Speeding up innovation
AI is making product development faster. It’s helping companies stand out from competitors.
Access Holdings now writes code in 2 hours instead of 8 using Microsoft 365 Copilot. Telstra got 90% of their employees using their AI tools, and customer callbacks dropped by 20%. Honeywell employees save 92 minutes every week using AI tools.
The changes are happening across all industries.
Healthcare, banking, retail – they’re all finding ways to use AI.

Check out Microsoft’s full study.
It shows how different companies are actually using these tools.
No marketing fluff, just real results.
I’ll keep testing these tools myself and share what I find.
